Safon.org:About
From Safon.org
Hassafon is a Scandinavia-based Internet resource for Jewish religion and culture. The primary cultural and linguistic framework is traditional Sefardí culture from Northwestern Europe, but Ashkenazí culture (especially in its Scandinavian variety) and Yiddish are also included. The long-term goal is to develop a relatively complete resource for those varieties of Judaism which are part of the history of Scandinavia and the neighbouring areas.
The religious framework is traditional Rabbinic Judaism, including traditional-egalitarian Judaism. Even though this means that the point of departure on Hassafon is Masorti (Conservative) and Modern Orthodox Judaism, we aim to present all main denominations and movements within Jewish religion — from Progressive Judaism to Haredi Judaism; and from Jewish Renewal to Karaite Judaism and Samaritan religion.
Hassafon started as a link page under the name “Skrivarstuå Judaica” near the end of the 1990s. Since then, the contents have been gradually steered away from the link page format and transformed into articles. With the establishment of the wiki version in January 2006, the official long-term goal for Hassafon is for it to become a comprehensive and independent Jewish reference work.
